Celebrating 75 Years
Since 1943, Alta Vista Credit Union has been providing financial solutions to help our members save and receive competitive loans. While we started out small and have had a few different names, one of the things that remains unchanged is our commitment to looking out for your best interest.
In honor of our 75th anniversary, Alta Vista will be offering special member incentives with charitable donations throughout 2018. Each quarter, we’ll be offering different promotions, centered around a few of our credit unions’ most popular products and services. Members eligible for the quarterly campaigns will have the opportunity to win cash prizes from the monthly, quarterly and year-end drawings. Alta Vista will "give back" to the community by donating money to a local charity for each member that qualifies for each quarterly campaign drawing.
A year-end sweepstakes of $2,500 will be held in January 2019. Members that are entered in the quarterly campaign drawings will be entered in the year-end sweepstakes. Members will be given one entry into the year-end sweepstakes per each quarterly campaign drawing they were eligible to enter.
This page will be updated throughout the year for each quarterly campaign.

Credit Union History:
1943: San Bernardino Army Air Depot Employees Credit Union was established to serve civilians working at the San Bernardino Army Air Field, later named Norton Air Force Base.
1952: The credit union’s name was changed to San Bernardino Federal Employees Credit Union.
1959: The bylaws were changed to include military personnel stationed at Norton Air Force Base. Following that, the immediate families of current members were made eligible. We continued to add military and civil service groups, retirees of those groups and their immediate families.
1973: The credit union’s name was changed to Norton Air Force Base Credit Union.
1994: Norton Air Force Base closed due to budgetary cuts for the military. Before the base closed, we expanded our field of membership and included 40 different SEG groups from companies in the area as well as included any military or federal employee anywhere in the world. We renamed the credit union to The Norton Credit Union.
1999: We added a geographical area that served as a basis for community charter change. We also expanded the eligibility to include “any family member of any person listed as eligible in the field of membership, including spouses, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, etc.” This provided us the ability to better serve our communities. We renamed the credit union to Norton Community Credit Union.
2007: We changed our name from Norton Community Credit Union to Alta Vista Credit Union so that we could honor our military roots, while promoting growth in our geographic area. Alta Vista represents “view from above” and “high view”, which symbolizes pilots looking down from our air force heritage, and the view of the mountains throughout the east valley.
2008: We relocated to our beautiful new corporate headquarters building in Redlands, California.
2018: We are celebrating 75 years of service to our local communities to show our appreciation for the support we have received from our membership!
